Branding
I serve on the Steering Committee for the Independent Museum Professionals. Our mission is to support independent museum professionals, to strengthen the relationship between independent museum professionals and museums, and to advance the museum field.
We knew we needed a logo to identify and brand the new network’s website, written communications, and social media. To get started, I surveyed the 15 steering committee members to understand branding and stylistic preferences. Everyone wanted something vibrant and dynamic; one respondent said “simple, and ‘sparkles’ a bit.” The logo I created is at once serious and playful, expressing our professionalism, but also the “out-of-the-box” thinking of our members.
